NEWS Last update: Aug. 23/11 Urban Surf Kings will be recording 2 tunes for an upcoming split 7 inch release. The band will be recording with Brad Conrad in September. Our good pals the Whiskey Kisses will be contributing 2 songs to the release. The wax wonder should be available in early 2012 from Reverb Ranch. Rev Hank's debut CD, Longhorn, is currently being mixed/mastered by Brad Conrad. Reverb Central has given the latest USK CD a glowing 5 star review: Retro-Sonic is subtitled 15 Years Of twang, which says it all. This is a career spanning collection of tracks from Nova Scotia's superb Urban Surf Kings. It includes many previously unissued tracks, as well as gems from prior releases. This is an essential release. I may be a bit biased, being both a fan, and having had the privilege of mastering this collection. Those who buy Retro-Sonic directly through Reverb Ranch also get a bonus mp3 album of live material called Monday Night Surf Club. Monday Night Surf Club is a very strong live set from Urban Surf Kings. Great performances, with very good recording, mixing, and mastering. This is totally hot! Urban Surf Kings' Retro-sonic: 15 Years of Twang will be released by Reverb Ranch this Fall. The 23 track CD/ digital download will feature songs from every stage of the band's career/ releases, plus several unreleased/unavailable tracks, and a special digital treat for those who order directly from the label, or the band. We're just putting the finishing touches on a 23 track "greatest hits" album (featuring some unreleased gems), and a live ep. Expect those to come out sooner, than later on Reverb Ranch. It's hard to believe it's been 15 years of surf. Time flies by from our first gig at King's University's Wardroom with Mr Mumps, Brain, and Spunky to playing bigger venues here and abroad (with Crash Flagg, Inky & then Spunky again), 10+ releases, umpteen appearances on compilations from around the world, soundtracks, tv & radio appearances, awards & nominations, and many, many good friends made along the way. Who knew that an instrumental surf trio from Nova Scotia would have so much fun, and achieve a lot of things that other bands only dream of?
